Staring Into Nothing is a difficult band to pin point. There are many different aspects that add into what they do. I think the safest way to describe them is melodic rock. Their songs are catchy and very soothing. What makes this band stand apart is the serious nature of their lyrics. It’s very thematic, but it’s done in such delicate and gentle way, you don’t even notice at first. There are many aspects of this band’s music that get your attention, and before you know it, you miss out on something else. The repeated listens are very rewarding for that reason alone.  my_heart_sings_the_harmony_web_ad_alt_250

Love is a very rich sounding record. Despite its simplicity at first, there are a lot things going on. The band consists of two members, but there are fifteen musicians listed as additional. Some big names, if I may, but that really doesn’t change a thing. What makes Love strong is the quality of the songwriting, and no instrumental wizard can bring out magic if the songs are not there. These songs possess natural magic.

As I listen to the record, I’m struck with various bits and pieces of what could possibly be an influence on Staring Into Nothing. They are very clever players and writers and let their influences work themselves into an already developed style. In some ways, this music feels like a theater; it allows the listener to visualize what is being communicated.

Love is Staring Into Nothing’s second record. I never had the pleasure of hearing the debut, but I feel very strongly about this album, in every aspect of speaking. This band appears to be very independent, and there is no big company behind them.  The album has a sincere happy feeling, and it never goes away throughout the entire play. This is an ideal record for those long fall evenings.
