A Boise, Idaho trio consisting of Spin Master Mugen, Dave The Fave and MCMD, Dedicated Servers bring plenty of bright and animated ideas to these 12 unclassifiable songs.
“That Feeling” starts and brings plenty of beats to the soulful and animated delivery that will get you on the dance floor, and the thumping “Waifu Kisses” follows with a wealth of rhythm alongside a retro spirit and Janessa White’s expressive pipes.
Moving closer to the middle, “Everything Beach” welcomes loads of pop personality into the well planned grooves, while the jazz fueled “So Nasty” recruits timeless hip-hop flavors via the creative and stylish execution. “Keep It Cool,” one of the album's best, then flirts with frisky electro-pop amid the quick vocals that showcases a lot of playful rhyming.
The back half is just as infectious. “Work It Fix It” illustrates Spin Master Mugen’s fluid beats alongside the echoing vocals, and the hazy “Rain Come Rain Go” showcases R&B nods. The title track then recruits SkyBlew’s artistry for a frisky and dynamic late album highlight that’s fleshed out precisely.
Deeper still, the muted voices and strong percussive ideas of “whatchugottasay” ends up being an elegant and lyrically straightforward moment that’s a bit calming, and “Ride On” exits with a mesmerizing and instantly memorable rap/hip-hop hybrid.
The three artists had a single idea in mind when making this album, i.e. to get people to dance. They clearly accomplished that, where the electronic bouts, funk moments and house and jazz bits won’t be hard to appreciate. An aptly titled affair, the trio are also wrestling and video game connoisseurs, and they’re also keen on cassette tapes, as that is the only way to physically pick up this album. But don’t worry, it comes with a download code in case you don’t have a tape player.
